Just a Wee Update

Posted January 8, 2024 by bethwyrm in Life Update / 4 Comments

My posting slowed down pretty swiftly in December (here as well as on Instagram, where I’d planned to post my jam advent calendar daily, Disney adventures, holiday cheer, etc.) and it’s been dead quiet thus far in January. I have an audience of fewer than 5 people, but it felt unfair to just stay quiet. So, here’s the update:

I’m battling a very deep depression right now. I’m sick- all my usual chronic crap, plus new and worsening symptoms- and stretched so thin that I have no emotional resilience with which to fight. Every ounce of energy is going into work (even though that’s only 2-3 hours/day), keeping my home safe, and keeping Leilani and I alive.

This, of course, exacerbates the brain fog that’s making it difficult for me to write reviews of books (or even read, right now), expand on my final handful of fountain pen ink reviews, or have any kind of online engagement.

All this to say, I don’t plan on abandoning this blog. It’s not dead yet. But it’s hibernating a bit while I try to scrape myself together.

May 2024 have mercy on us all.

  1. I am so, so sorry that you are struggling so much. I wish I could do something, anything to help. Leilani looks very content though, so you are obviously doing a good job taking care of her- and she you, I imagine. I love her little outfit! No worries, we will be here when you are ready. And any time you want to talk, you know I am here ♥♥

    • Thanks, Shannon. Honestly, me too! At this point, I’d like to have a day where I’m not running a fever, nauseated, unable to focus, in pain, and/or running to the bathroom every 30 minutes. I haven’t had a “good” health day since Aug 20 (right before I gave myself a concussion, then got horribly sick, which triggered a flare-up, etc.) But I appreciate your patience with the blog, since pretty much every ounce of energy I have is going to my part-time job right now.
