ClearUrShit Readathon

I am a sucker for a story-based read-a-thon with a lot of wiggle room and forgiveness built into it. One that is all about me reading the books I already own? Yes, please. As an added bonus, this one apparently comes with a sassy narrator and a sweet library witch as the world guides.

I’m not sure yet if I have to join the Discord for it (or how I can find that!) but I’ll be following along on Twitter, at least. But in a nutshell, ClearUrSht takes place in the mythical land of Shelfia. Last year (year 1 of it), a group of readers (and Narrator) were recruited by the Wizard to kill the Library Witch- who he said had cast a spell that resulted in books assaulting citizens. It turned out that the Library Witch was being framed by the Wizard- all the readers died, and Narrator wasn’t paid.

In the summer there was a mini-event where the readers helped Narrator and Ariadne (the Library Witch) gather potions to resurrect them, but whoops- their bodies were brought back without their souls. So at the start of this adventure, our souls are trapped in hell, and we’re reading to escape.

See the fun recap here!

It starts Nov 1 and runs until the end of Dec. Each week there are three prompts, and each prompt relates to a story moment (in a choose-your-own-adventure style of thing, I think). Additionally, there are surprise prompt ‘boss battles’. All this is optional, and the interpretation of prompts is personal to whatever works for you. The main goal is: read the books you own.

There’s no way I can read three books/week, so I’m (ambitiously) aiming for 1/week. I’m assuming the prompts are released in order, so I’m selecting one out of every three to tackle. Wish me luck…or better yet, join in the fun!

  1. "Read the books you own", you say? I have no idea how to do that 😂 I did really enjoy Where the Lost Wander, if that helps! And I feel like I liked the 5th Wave? At least, enough to buy the sequel and third book and never read them! 😂

    • Hahahahaha yeah, I know that pain. I committed to not buying any books, but I still get my Amazon Prime First Reads ebook every month (that I never end up reading) and there's library books and and and). 😀

I might skip ahead and read Where the Lost Wander next, knowing it comes recommended. Thanks!
