Pirateathon Ship’s Log

Pirateathon Ship’s Log

A hearty congratulations to all the dastardly privateers who joined us for this adventure! A grand total of 14 brave pirate captains acquired themselves a ship, named her, and hoisted their pirate flag (with blue being the most popular color for it). Most acquired a schooner, with brigantine being the next most popular choice. Two additional privateers fulfilled some of the prompts, and three were marooned and thus unable to participate after signing up. The Most Piratical Pirates The Captain’s Log Cap’n Ellorie Wine of the brigantine The Drunken Strumpet, under a red flag: 5,744 gold. Cap’n Aurelia Sherwood of […]

The Final Voyage

Ahoy! ’tis nearly the final day of #Pirateathon but ye have until midnight (EST) on the 30th- more like, when I wake up on Oct 1st, because the Pirate Code’s more what ye’d call guidelines– to log your final reads. Which among ye is gonna surprise us all, coming up from the rear to lead? Captain’s Log There be too much scuttlebutt to cover here- pirates may sleep late and pillage even later, but never say they don’t show up (if even at the last moment) to claim what they wish! This isn’t the final tally- that’ll be out in […]

The Second Voyage

The Second Voyage

Phew, what a journey it’s been thus far! After it appeared only Cap’n Chelle ‘Devil’s Grin’ Thorne would be commandin’ the Spanish Main this month, several other pirate captains were spotted sailin’ from hidden coves and islands, amassing treasure, and earning a reputation near faster than I could write. When pirates make a showin’ of it, they truly turn out! Captain’s Log Cap’n Shannon Scurvyshorts made a bombastic appearance- sailing in on her own schooner, also flying a blue pirate flag, and boasting a treasure haul of 1,280 pieces of gold plus a bonus. Cap’n Aster Blackwing‘s fearsome reputation has […]

My Pirateathon TBR

My Pirateathon TBR

The majority of my energy and focus is going to be on hosting the Pirateathon in September as Scurvy Sal (with the exception of the weekend I’ll be celebrating Halloween in Walt Disney World). But I couldn’t resist the opportunity to make a pirate-themed TBR for next month! Required Prompts Optional Prompts What about you? What’s on your Pirateathon TBR? (They don’t have to be pirate-themed books, of course, I’m just going meta for mood) Reading this book contributed to these challenges:Pirateathon

Pirateathon Book Recommendations

Pirateathon Book Recommendations

If you’re interested in participating in the Pirateathon but at a loss as to what books to choose for each prompt, I’ve compiled a list below with suggestions. If you have more, please leave a comment with them- the more, the merrier! Remember: A book can count toward up to 3 (three) prompts. Reading Prompts These ones are pretty straightforward or personal to the reader, so don’t need a recommendation: Acquire a Ship: Read a book that’s 200+ pages long. The bigger the book, the bigger your ship. This prompt need only be satisfied once. Name Yer Vessel: Read a […]
