You'd think that by age seventy-mumble, even a witch would be able to retire and weed her garden in peace. Unfortunately, there's a fat little demon knocking on her gate, and he has other plans. Oh, and so does the witch who's chasing him with a sword. And let's not forget the witch's sister--who just happens to be the demon's fiancée. She's not so happy right now.

They may have to consult the cat to get this all sorted out. Mrs. Fromish does not particularly like cats. But she likes demons even less....

It’s cute, it’s short, it’s silly- a standard E.M. Epps novelette. Not my favorite, though- Mrs. Fromish was a fun concept but I didn’t particularly care about anyone or anything in the story (except for the cat). This may’ve been a bi-product of Nicky being incredibly annoying and Mrs. Fromish not getting much agency after all her “guests” arrive. I’ve enjoyed Epps’ other short stories, which I think had more character development and sympathy, so maybe I wasn’t in the right mood for this one.
